PIA CHEVALIER

THE SUBLIMATION OF RAW MATERIALS

The series Longchamp Family shines a spotlight on creators from all backgrounds, each possessing extraordinary craftsmanship. This season, Sophie Delafontaine, the artistic director of Longchamp, and Peggy Frey, a fashion and trend journalist, embark on a journey of discovery, exploring these talents through inspiring encounters and heartfelt favorites.

Allow yourself to be enraptured by the authentic world of Pia Chevalier. An independent designer who has honed her craft through formal training in Design and Craftsmanship, with a keen focus on surface treatments and artistic embellishments at the prestigious Boulle School.

POWER OF RAW MATERIALS

Pia's artistic expression revolves around the transformative power of raw materials. She skillfully sculpts these materials, imbuing them with a distinct individuality that is truly one-of-a-kind. Her artistry shines most brilliantly through the graceful curves of her handles, a signature element that adorns many of her masterpieces. Pia's specialty lies in crafting everyday objects, elevating them to the status of sculptural marvels, creating connections and evoking emotions in the most commonplace moments of our daily lives.

I cherish the imperfections of materials, their inclination towards decay, towards entropy, which encourages me to embrace the unexpected, the transient. I make room for complete spontaneity in the creative process while composing my pieces. I also work particularly with color, vivid and dynamic, and we have all that in common with Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp Creative Art Director, who is so keen on endlessly exploring materials and colors.
